Planning your journey to WordCamp Masaka 2026? This guide covers everything you need to travel to Masaka, Uganda with confidence — from Entebbe International Airport to Equator University, our venue for July 4, 2026.

Arriving by Air

The nearest international airport is Entebbe International Airport (EBB), located approximately 130 kilometres from Masaka. Two options are available for the onward journey.

Option 1 — Private Airport Transfer

Private transfers from Entebbe International Airport to Masaka are available through local service providers. This is the most comfortable option, particularly for those travelling with luggage or arriving outside peak hours.

  • Journey time: approximately 4 hours, depending on traffic
  • Estimated cost: UGX 400,000 – 500,000 (approx. USD 120 – 140), depending on vehicle type and service level

We do not operate this service directly, but we are happy to connect you with a trusted provider. Contact us if you need assistance arranging your airport transfer.

Option 2 — Public Taxi via Kampala

Public minibus taxis are a convenient and affordable option widely used across Uganda.

  • From Entebbe, take a taxi to Kampala New Taxi Park or Busega
  • At Kampala New Taxi Park, ask for taxis headed to Masaka — locals are generally very helpful. Keep your belongings secure and stay aware of your surroundings
  • Fare from Kampala: UGX 20,000 (negotiable to UGX 15,000). From Busega: UGX 15,000 or less
  • In both cases, ask to be dropped at Ambiance Club Masaka

Photo Stop: Uganda Equator — Kayabwe

If you are travelling by private vehicle, consider a brief stop at the Uganda Equator landmark in Kayabwe — one of the country’s most visited attractions and a popular photo opportunity for international visitors. Note that public buses and taxis do not stop here. Private travellers are advised to use Google Maps for precise routing.
